At some point, just about everybody wonders if solar panels are waterproof. But it’s actually kind of a dumb question if you think about it. Of course they’re waterproof! They sit up on your roof in the rain and (in many cases) the snow for years and years, and if they didn’t keep on working, nobody would have them.
Not only are they immune to water–they’re also quite resistant to impact. They have no moving parts, don’t rust, and while generally considered fairly high-tech, are actually pretty simple devices. We occasionally walk on them (carefully) during installation, and they’re engineered to withstand high winds and flying debris. Systems have been known to fair surprisingly well even in hurricanes, and if they don’t, hey, there’s insurance!
